Hi, colleagues. I was asked to give a talk at this online event called ‘Empowering the Truth’ organised by International Center for Journalists and Boom next week on Tuesday, Feb. 28, at 9 am IST (+5:30 GMT).
A good friend, and a fantastic journalist-turned-media-literacy-advocate, H R Venkatesh, who runs Media Buddhi at Boom, asked me to discuss ‘How we might make the truth go viral’.
If interested, please click the button above and follow the instruction to register. My session is a kick-off keynote and should be under South/Southeast Asia.
By the way, if you haven’t checked out Venkatesh’s Media Buddhi yet, you must. It offers great insights and provides many discussion topics you can explore with other media educators and your students.
Anyways, here’s what the organiser said about the global workshop following the talk, which starts in March. I am sure many members of our network would find it useful.
Registrations are now open for journalists, fact-checkers and students across six regions of the world to stop what they are doing every Thursday in March to focus on a big and pressing challenge: How to present and share factual content so that it takes off, undercutting fast-spreading disinformation.
Lastly, below is a promotional graphic — yep, it’s a shameless plug, but I promised Venkatesh that I would spread the word and promote the event, so :)
Even though it is in a webinar format, I will try to make it somewhat interactive in one way or another.
I hope to see some of you there online!
With all good wishes,
Masato
